Created in 2018, Spi Portuguesa is Lopitz Group’s new Aerospace centre. Our team of 17 specialises in our historic core business, surface treatment and protecting parts for the Aerospace industry.
Responsiveness, performance and securing are the hallmarks of Spi Portuguesa, which works closely with Spi Aéro. In our brand-new, state-of-the-art facility, we take over your aluminium parts. Thanks to our two weekly shuttles between Mauléon and Pinhel, our logistics are simple and our production cycle remains unchanged.
Our NDT department
To better serve our quality and safety mission, our Portuguese factory is equipped with a Penetrant Testing line. This Non Destructive Testing process aims at identifying potential defects in your aluminium parts and hence to confirm or decline their compliance. Our NDT inspectors are level 2 certified by AFENDA FrANDTB.
Our Surface treatment department
Spi Portuguesa is the continuation in Portugal of Spi Aéro’s historic expertise in surface treatment for the Aerospace industry. Our team takes over your aluminium parts and treats them against corrosion to ensure their protection and maximum durability. Spi Portuguesa notably performs TSA (Tartaric Sulfuric Anodizing service) for parts up to 1,5 metres.
Our Painting department
At Spi Portuguesa, industrial painting means dexterity and precision. Our qualified painters apply paint manually, which means they can control its aspect and thickness. Masking is performed beforehand according to technical guidelines and maps.
Our facility is equipped with 2 cabins that can both host parts up to 1,5 metres.

Spi Aéro, Lopitz Group’s historic subsidiary, specialises in end-of-line operations for the Aerospace industry. Located in Mauléon, our factory offers you end-to-end services; we deliver a final product that has been treated and qualified, and that is ready to assemble. Spi Aéro is Aerospace principals’ privileged interlocutor and can work with all alloys, either metallic or composite, for parts up to 3 metres.

The story between Mauléon and Pinhel is no news and has been lasting for a long time. Years ago, when the Soule industry started to develop, many workers came from Portugal. This mass immigration created deep connections between the two rural communities. It then seemed quite natural for Lopitz Group to choose Pinhel to establish its new facility, Spi Portuguesa. For remaining truthful to our origins and creating jobs in the back-country are 2 of our key values that guided us in developing Spi Portuguesa.
